A Room with a View

I hate tanning but I enjoy sitting in the sun. Not too long, just enough to feel its warmth on my skin. Then I put my sweater back on, even in the heat. I don’t want to burn my skin.

There would be no human life on earth without the sun and yet, the sun will eventually swallow up the earth. A red giant burning up a tiny blue planet.

We cast a shadow on something wherever we stand, and it is no good moving from place to place to save things; because the shadow always follows. Choose a place where you won’t do harm – yes, choose a place where you won’t do very much harm, and stand in it for all you are worth, facing the sunshine.

E.M. Forster, A Room with a View

So if you wake up one morning and it’s a particularly beautiful day, you’ll know we made it. Okay, I’m signing out.
